Commitment to Earth-friendly Practices
Part of our purpose at Greenstone Gardens is to be of benefit to our planet. We hope to educate our clients about the unhealthy practices in modern gardening such as overuse of chemical fertilizers and dangerous pesticides. These practices are not only bad for our bodies and our planet, they are ultimately unhealthy for our gardens. We encourage and utilize methods of gardening that will improve soil quality and thus improve plant growth. We like to work with our clients to choose plants that will grow well in the settings they choose and discourage the use of exotic invasives that threaten our native flora. We do use Glyphosphate as a herbicide when necessary but use it only when other options will not work. We want to learn as much as we can about pests and diseases affecting the plants in our area so that we can treat the problems with natural controls and through preventative planning. We use the IPM method for pest and disease control.
